I read this three pullups article when it came out, and I’ve been interested since then. I’ve had a Captain’s Chair for a couple of years that some very good friends lugged from the city for me after finding on ebay. (find link)
In addition to having the handles to do leg lifts, it has a bar at the top that you can do pull-ups from. I cleared away the bottom so that i could put a stool below to do step #1.
I can’t do it for any time at all – hang from the bar,. I did feel pretty precarious up there but I had little to no arm strength. Hope this attempt helps that. I guess I am at 1 second and have to get to three 25-second holds. Holy cow!!
